Introduction
The second full year of Gwentfinity just finished and it is perfect time for an update national stats update.
In August 2024 the last article from Nations of Gwent cycle was published. We witnessed there the % of Russian players normalizing after a boom in the preceeding read.
How much have changed after almost a year and a half elapsed? Let’s see.
(Provided stats are based on Top2860 players of Pro Ladder data – biggest sample size available via Gwent Masters Ratings)
Then And Now
Relative to August 2024, the share of Russian players dropped by 4.5%. For other main countries the changes are small. Hong Kong grew relatively high: from 2.2% to 2.9%. It is now the 8th country by the number of Gwent players. That being said, there may be an artificial contribution of Hong-Kong vpn’s used by other countries.
Highlighted Countries
Russia
After early 2024 boom which lasted up to ~April, the % of Russian players is at a constant decrease. For the first time since the very start of 2020 the % is lower than 20% for two seasons in a row. As of Dec 2025, Russian playerbase has impact on balance changes via MetallicDanny (MD) and Independent Coaltion (IC) recommendations. In the middle of 2025 Seagull coalition emerged with some meta shaping changes, but disbanded few months after and turned into IC. Seagull 2-power 4-cost in Feb 2025 itself had no, or small negative impact when it comes to % of RU players on ladder.
There is BaM tournament planned for 2026 which may lead to revival of Russian playerbase.
Ukraine
China
Over the years the % of Chinese players keeps growing relative to times of boom at the start of 2020 (Gwent iOS, Demarcation’s first won seasons). After April-September 2024 local peak, the % CN playerbase is stable.
Since November 2025 China established self as influential for Gwent balance councils via streamer Zong recommendations.
CN community hosts weekly Gwent tournaments (Discord server), 17-18 Jan there would be the finals of 2025 cycle – the winner gets Nintendo Switch 😉
Poland
The share of Polish players is generally a bit lower in Gwentfinity. Luckily the % stabilized after early 2024 plunge (which was probably indirectly caused by Gwent higher popularity in Russia and Ukraine these months).
Japan
Japan is an example of country for which % of players is higher in Gwentfinity. This can be attributed to Mya-Mon becoming the last Gwent Masters champion and streaming regularly.
Hong Kong
Since Masters 2 the number of players with Hong Kong flag increased 4 times.
Regions
For the sake of clustered statistics following Regions would be distinguished:
- ‘CIS’ – name loosely refers to the countries of the former Commonwealth Of Indpendent States; it includes Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan…
- ‘Europe’ – European countries to the west of CIS, mostly using latin alphabet: Poland, Germany, France, Great Britain, Czech Republic…
- ‘East Asia’ – Asian countries to the east from India: China, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand…
- ‘North America’ – includes also Central America with Mexico; United States, Canada…
- ‘South America’ – Brazil, Argentina…
- ‘West Asia’ – Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia… also Egypt is included in this group although equally well may be counted as an African country (like it is in football for example)
- ‘Oceania’ – Australia, New Zealand…
- ‘South Asia’ – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh…
- ‘Africa’ – South Africa, Algieria, Morocco…
The balance between main regions remained about constant in 2025, with CIS being in a slight decrease and EastAsia at slight increase. Each of three main regions right now is roughly equally represented at ~30% of playerbase.
WestAsia is at a slight increase trend with Turkey being the most represented country.
"Gwent Per Capita"
With respect to August 2025 the main difference further growth of Hong Kong by ~5% and Russia losing 4th spot to Ukraine due to 2.5% decrease and Singapore establishing self as country with distinctive overrepresentation of Gwent players compared to Finland or Kazakhstan (~+3%; this emphasizes VPNs suspicions, but maybe high-iq economy minds of Hong Kong and Singapore just found Gwent as the best strategic game around thanks to smart balance council changes ;-))
If all countries had the same population, almost every 3rd player would have been from Hong Kong!
Closure
Hope you enjoyed this overview and learned something interesting about nations of Gwent Pro Ladder!
Raw data and graphs for some other nations not mentioned in the article are available on Google Drive.
If you’re hungry for more stats, last days I’ve also done Pro Ladder Cutoffs analysis and scrapped highest number of games for each season (aka spammer list of shame)
Where are you from? Do you have any insight on the underlying events behind provided stats?
